And more than a corporate monkey, rat in the rat race, and mindless, thoughtless nitwit just pounding the pavement in search of a paycheck for hocking my wares at the market.
One of the things I battle with on a daily basis is how my industry of choice does nothing for the good of humanity. Essentially, advertising has been about making people who have no money spend their dimes on items they don’t need and wouldn’t know about if not for our flashy ads and sleek commercials. Now that I have time, I am going to set out to find an organization that reaches people correctly, without invasive technology, and in a cost effective manner. People in my industry can be so cavalier when it comes to their “best” practices and many of the companies that I’ve talked with could care less about the end consumer. Those are not organizations for me and I refuse to be a part of them any longer. Those among us who cannot afford to buy food should not be made to feel inferior for not buying premium toilet paper or fancy notebooks for their children.
In addition, I am going to spend a good deal of my time exercising my body and my soul – I’m going to commit to going to the gym more than before and I will volunteer to help people more than I do now. I’m not amassing karma to use at a later date. I’m going to cleanse my life and purge the parts of it that I disdain. Perhaps disdain is a tad harsh but there are definitely areas where I can improve and I intend to do just that.
